Diets

Hi everyone and thanks of reading my blog.  OMG!!!!!!!  Are not sick to death about dieting?  I’m sick of hearing about it, talking about it, doing it, and falling for it.  I have for years been a yo yo dieter and I still am.  Nothing has worked for good.  I loose and swear I will never gain it back, then stress happens,  then the gaining starts.  There is no carb, low carb, low fat, high protein, and more.  Lately the women I know that are dieting are only eating fish and a veggie for all three meals.  Those who stick to it are miserable and beyond skinny.  They are also working out for hours a day.  They are not anorexic, they are obsessed with food,  is it good or bad.  There are tv shows about loosing weight, about being huge, and about physical training.  The interesting thing is more Americans are more over weight then ever.  The low carb diet works best for me, but I tire of it.  I am always looking for the best, easiest, cheapest, and most fun work out.  I’m still looking.  So, I just recently decided due to a non physical job that I would just start walking and then work up to running.  This is cheap and a really good way to get moving.  I think I will stop worrying about the type of diet and just enjoy life, food, and cooking in a normal way.  There was a time in history that a person was considered rich if they had some meat on their bones.  I  should have lived back then.  So I will get back with you and let you know how that is working for me.  Good dinning!  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

Redo

Hi and thanks for reading my blog.  Have you recently heard of the term redo in the service industry?  Many businesses are hurting and/or trying to keep their business running.  Because of this they are doing coupons and frequent customer cards.  They are offering deals every where.  I just started buying my meats at a very expensive place due to the coupons.  The deals and advertisements are a wonderful way of bringing in and keeping business.  There is also another practice that is to secure customers loyalty ; guarantees and redo’s.    This is a business practice that offers a customer who has an unsatisfactory service to get it redone by someone else at no charge.  Sometimes they will also get credit back on their account.  This is also to show appreciation to the customer.  However, some are using this to get free services.  They complain and demand a redo on a service that is really just fine, this is so uncool.  Nothing is free in life that is worth anything.  When a person does this it cost the company time, product, and many times a deduction in the professionals paycheck.  Someone always pays for the complaint.  This is not a problem if there is really a bad service or a faulty product.  But please, don’t complain if there is nothing wrong just so you can get another service free.  In some cases it could mean someones job.  Someone who is a single mom or a dad that is working many hours away from his family to make ends meet.  Lets all do unto others as we would have done to us.  Well have a great week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

Tipping

Hi and thank you for reading my blog.  So, are you a good tipper?  I feel like I tip according to the service I get not according to the bill.  Sure there is the standard 15%  or 20%  if your happy with the service.  And don’t forget the gratuity that is added for six or more of you.  The sad thing about that is I would have tipped more and in cash.  And what about those places where there is a tip jar and all they did was ring you up and take your money?  Do you really need to tip them too?  I just recently started tipping the guy that washes my car.  So do you tip the yard guy or the maid?  I tip the maid that cleans my room at a hotel.  I think tipping is so important because some jobs just rely on them.  I think that the big thing people forget to do is tip according to the original price before the coup0n is taken.  For instance, if the hair cut is 35 dollars then the coupon is 10 dollars off the tip should be based on the original price.  The hair stylist still gave you the service worth 35 dollars.  I am in the business of service and all to many times the tip is not given on the original price.  Remember, many times the coupons offered are at the expense of the server not the owner.  So be sure to tip good and remember we are all working hard to over come the economic crisis.  Well, a have great week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

Are you pregnant?

Hi and thanks for reading my blog.  So, have you ever had someone say to you, “Are you, pregnant, when are you due?”  That is an ok thing to say if it is really obvious they are about ready to deliver any minute.  But, its not ok to say when they are not.  I was really heavy at one point in my life and had several people ask me that.  And be sure to know it made them feel bad when I said “No just fat”.  I can tell you that is not a mistake I make.  People are funny.  I had a friend that would point out the fact that your face was broken out every time they saw you.  Did they think you didn’t know your face was a mess.  Gee, thanks for telling me I didn’t know.  Or what makes a person think that their opinion matters so much that they can say things like, “Oh my, who cut your hair”?  That is like a husband saying, “Wow honey, that dress makes you look skinny”.  Whatever happened to, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”.  Those same people will let you walk around all day with a dirty nose or your zipper down.  Got to love it!  Well have a great week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

Texing Dating Rules

Dear Readers, thanks for reading my blog.  I have been a single mom for almost five years and one of the newest modern day dating tools is texing.  At first I didn’t think it was a big deal when a man I was getting to know texed  me late on a Friday or Saturday night to see how I was doing.  I was kinda thrilled that he was thinking about me so I would tex back and say hi.  Well, I soon learned that they were testing me to see if I was out with someone else ; or they had too much and wanted some company.  I have never been the type to run out and hang out with them when they tex at the last minute.  So alone they would stay.  So now after ten pm I now longer answer.  Also men tend to tex instead of talk.  Now, communication is lacking already  between the sexes, this texing isn’t helping.  Yes, its cute to send someone a note or two, but come on, stop asking women out that way.  Also what ever happened to asking someone out ahead of time.  Don’t ask us out at the last minute.  I guarantee I’m busy if that happens.  I know of people who have gotten dumped by a tex.  How cold is that!  I don’t know, call me old fashioned.  But I want to be asked out in person the week before the date.  I want conversation.  I want one on one attention.  Not the cold, distant, uncommitted, tex or email.  Technology is great, but nothing beats a great friend, sipping coffee, and enjoying the weather together outside a coffee shop on a Saturday morning.  If a person is always hiding behind a cell phone or email maybe they have more to hide then is worth dealing with.  For you over 35,  remember what it was like to talk on a wall phone, with a 20 foot cord, draped under your bedroom door for hours.  Do you remember when you called someone and you got that annoying busy single.  There were no answering machines and your parents couldn’t just call you when you were out.  I went to prom with a boy when I was a in 10th grade and he borrowed his uncles car that had one of the first car phone.  Boy, was I excited.  I called my mom on it not knowing it cost some money to do that.  Oh, those were the days.  All though,  I am kinda glad that I can call my teenager any time I want.  I guess all in all its important to remember how nice a smile is, a hug is, a kiss is, a dance is, a handshake is, and a cup of coffee is.  Well, I hope you have a great week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

Birth Order

Hi everyone and good day to you.  Thanks for reading my blog.  I have just recently done some studies on the birth order of people and found it very interesting.  I have three boys and they do have some of the characters of their order.  The oldest is strong and bossy, the middle is well behaved and organized.  And the youngest is spoiled.  But what about the third child  and then the fourth one in born right after.  This position tends to be a difficult one.  First of all, this position is called “the invisible child”.  This is due to the fact that this child had very little time to have all the baby attention before the next one is born.  Whats worse is if the fourth child is the opposite sex.  I have been married twice and both times I married men with this birth order.  I am the oldest in my order.  Both my ex-husbands were the third boy and the baby girl came  a year later.  So they lost the attention of being the baby right away and their gender was not new or special.  This caused insecurities and problems as adults.  So now when I date someone I try to find out what their birth order is.  Been there, done that.    So parents be sure to pay attention to that third child.  Well good bye for now, have a good week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

Travel

Hi everyone and good day to you. Thanks for reading my blog.  Have you ever just wanted to run away?  I’m not talking about Johny running away to grandmas cause he is in trouble.  I’m talking about just picking up and leaving everything behind and starting over.  I have pretty much lived here my whole life.  I lived in Idaho for three and a half years and loved it.  I loved the four seasons which we do not get here and I loved the snow.  But for the most part I have only lived here.  I do nails for a living and I would love to rent a room in Manhattan New York and do nails for a year at some uppity salon.  Then go to Denver Colorado and do the same thing.  There is so much to see in the United States that I could be busy for years.  I could be like a Gypsy.  You know, just experience the world outside my world today.  I am raising my sons right now and I love them so much.  I hope they get to achieve all that they can in life and I will help and support them as much as I can.  But someday when they are raised I plan to run away.  I want to be the eccentric grandma that travels around and then goes to see them to tell them what I did and saw.  Well good bye for now and have a good week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola fide

Got Nails?

Hi everyone and good day to all of you.  Ladies, I know that the times are hard and the economy is bad.  I know we are all trying to save a buck.  But really, you must think about where and who does your nails.  I have been doing nails now for 23 years and it never ceases to amaze me how many of you don’t research the manicurist and the salon you are going to.  After all, the fingers are one of the most important parts of your body.  Think about all that you do with them and what would happen if they were damaged.  And your feet and toes, what would you do without them.  So as the demand for more and more discount nail salons has grown I have taken a closer look at them.  Now, not all discount nail salons are bad, but you must know what to look for.  First of all if they are wearing a mask why are you not given one to wear?  I have been doing this for a very long time and never needed a mask.  So I did some research and a good majority of these places use a very cheap, highly toxic acrylic for their  fake nails.  There is a very cancerous ingredient with the abbreviation MMA.  This can eventually damage the lungs of the person doing the nails even through the mask. The products that I have been using for years does not have that ingredient in it.  I have had three boys while doing nails with no problems. But because of the MMA, most ob/gyms to not want pregnant women going into these places during the first trimester, it can cause miscarriages.  In many of these salons the workers are not licensed.  If you walk in and ask them if they can do a full sculptured nail and they say no they are probably not licensed.  Because in order to pass state board that is one of the main things you have to perform to pass.  Also if they put tips with acrylic over them and after a couple of fills tell you to get a new set on, thats not necessary.  If they take a tip or something and slide it up, under your nail to rip the old nail off they have never been to school.  There is not a school in the states that I know of that would teach a student that.  That is highly damaging to the natural nail bed.  If you are seeing reddish rings or lines on your nail bed they are improperly using the electric file on you.  There is a proper way to use the files with out damaging your nails.  Also if you are wanting a pedicure, be sure to sit and watch them clean out the foot bath.  They are supposed to go by OSHA standards by scrubbing the tube, rinsing it out, filling it up with hot water, adding some bleach, and circulating it for 10 minutes.  If that is not what is happening you are at risk of many fungal infections, MRSA, hepatitis,  and other infections.  So do your research on the place you are going.  And just because they say they do a service, doesn’t mean they are really licensed to do it.  Many are saying they wax, but if you watch they are double dipping the wooded sticks.  So lets say the person before you gets a bikini wax and then you get an eyebrow wax you have just shared that stick. How gross is that!  So look at the wax pot and make sure they never use the same stick even on you.  There  should be a small stack of them when they are done with you.  I am very concerned for the public over these matters.  Like I said, not all discount nail salons are bad, but its up to you to protect yourself.  There are plenty of licensed, hard working, professionals out there needing you business.  So be aware and be safe!  Well goodnight for now.  Have a great week and may your future be blessed.  Sola Fide

What are cats thinking?

Hi everyone and good day to you.  Say, have you ever wondered what cats are thinking?  I have two cats and they always look at me like they think I’m crazy.  My seventeen year old son thinks they are saying something like “Stupid humans”.  I like cats cause they are self potty trained, they are independent  (even when your the one who feeds them), and they are soft.  Its funny how they seem to know when a person doesn’t like them, that is when they rub on you and purr.  That is when they jump on your lap.  Other wise they pay no attention to you.  My one big black cat has to have wine glasses all over the house filled with water cause he will only drink from them.  He won’t put his nose in the water, instead he dips his paw in the water and drinks the water from it.  He will yell at me if the glasses are empty or dirty.  My other cat is small and petite but mean as a poll cat in a brier patch.  She kisses me on the nose every morning to wake me up and then meows till I get up.  They both sleep with me and I love them.  Its funny, cause if I decide to date someone I tell them about my kids and cats first.  If that isn’t a problem we have a good start.  I once had a silver Persian cat.  She was so pretty.  She could walk on a leash.  People would stop their cars just to ask if she was a dog or a cat.  They couldn’t believe their eyes.  One night she was mad at me.  She came to my room and sat on my stomach looking me right in the face.  So I woke up and looked right back at her wondering what she was up to.  Soon a felt this warmth spreading across my middle.  Well wouldn’t you know it, she peed on me.  Needless to say, that was a bad night.  So as I said, I often wonder what cats are thinking,  don’t you?  Anyway, I hope you have a great week.  May your future be blessed.  SolarFide

Hi I’m new!!! ;)

Hi everyone.  I am new at blogging and I am so excited about it.  Thank you so much for reading my blog today.  It is wonderful to be able to put your thought out there for others to ponder on and to respond to.  I am 45 years old and I have been in the beauty industry for 23 years now.  It has been a very rewarding experience.  But as the years have gone by I always thought I should be doing something more.  The funny thing is ,when ever, through the years I have taken an aptitude test it would come up that I should be a writer.  My family tells me that all the time.  So maybe this is the start of a new writing career.  I am very interested in fitness, politics, religion, current events, family, finances, and saving money.  I love movies too.  I think I should learn more about sport sometime.  I have three boys you would think I would know something about sports by now.  My favorite time of year is in the fall.  I love the holidays and the coolness of the weather.  Someday I would love to go to New York for the Christmas season.  I would love to move to a different city each year for the experience.  Maybe when I finish raising my boys I could try that.   There is so many places to see.  Well, enough about me.  I hope all who read this has a wonderful week.  May your future be blessed.  Sola Fide
